Charting a new course for learning: Ogier and JCCT unveil maritime themed Engineer Programme

Following the soaring success of last year’s aviation themed adventure, the Ogier Engineer Programme returns for 2025, this time with a brand-new maritime twist.

In partnership with the Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT) and the Ports of Jersey, Ogier is once again supporting the Help a Life Take Flight campaign which gives children in ten local nurseries the opportunity to explore, create and discover through themed learning experiences. In 2024, children became mini aviators. This year, they’ll transform into maritime adventurers as the programme drops anchor at Elizabeth Harbour.

The initiative sees trained Ogier volunteers, know as Ogier Engineers, deliver engaging carpet time sessions and creative activities in nurseries, before accompanying the children on an immersive offsite experience. This year’s nautical adventure includes a harbour tour, scavenger hunt and a chance to have their favourite cuddly toy scanned by port security.

Alice Bennion, Director of Programmes and Services at the Jersey Child Care Trust said:

“The Ogier Engineer Programme is a shining example of how corporate and community partnerships can create meaningful experiences for children. It brings learning to life in a way that is engaging, inclusive and impactful. Through imaginative play, hands-on learning and inclusive experiences, we’re not only supporting early development but also inspiring confidence, curiosity and connection. We’re incredibly proud to work alongside Ogier and the Ports of Jersey to inspire young minds and create enriching experiences for children who might not otherwise have access to them.”

Nicola Carroll, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Ogier, said:

“Our 2025 crew of Ogier Engineers are excited to set sail with JCCT on this year’s new maritime adventure! The Ogier Engineer Programme provides mutual benefits by enriching the lives of the children JCCT support and creating a unique volunteering experience for our employees. Hats off to JCCT for introducing this maritime twist, and to our colleagues who are navigating new waters to support this exceptional learning opportunity for nursery children.”

The Programme will run throughout October and November, offering around 300 children the opportunity to take part in a truly unique and memorable experience.
