ERIC – Let’s Go Potty – ERIC’s 3-step approach to Potty Training

Let’s Go Potty is an accessible and thorough eLearning course developed in direct response to what Early Years practitioners were asking ERIC for. Based on ERIC’s proven 3-step approach to potty training, this course provides practical, expert-led guidance to help professionals support children with confidence. Introduction to Playwork

The aim of this training is to increase the knowledge and understanding of ‘what play is’ and how to support it.

Objectives:

  • Putting theory into practice within your role

Safeguarding and Child Protection

This mandatory training only needs to be attended once, then followed up with annual updates.

The course gives an insight into what safeguarding is and how to recognise the different areas of abuse that children and young people may be at risk from. The course also covers how to manage a disclosure and where and who to go to, if you suspect a child or young person has been abused.

Jersey’s Children First – Right Help Right Time

All of the Jersey’s Children First training has been updated to reflect the statutory guidance supporting the Children and Young People (Jersey) Law 2022. Even if you have completed Jersey’s Children First training previously, it is recommended that yo complete one of the updated online learning programmes to understand how the Jersey’s Children First framework supports you to work with the statutory guidance.

Rhymes

This session looks at how traditional nursery rhymes can enrich everyday childcare. You’ll explore Froebel’s ideas, learn why singing supports early development and discover practical ways to use rhymes, finger plays and action songs with children. You’ll explore practical ways to link songs to children’ real-life experiences. By the end, you will leave with fresh ideas and renewed confidence in using nursery rhymes to enrich and uplift your daily practice.

Sharing books and stories

This session will help you develop the skills needed to truly bring stories to life and spark a lasting interest in reading. You’ll learn how storytelling supports development, how to connect stories to real-life experiences and how to help children create their own. We’ll explore expressive techniques and simple ways to notice early reading skills. You’ll leave with practical strategies, ideas for storytelling resources and book-nook inspiration.

CEYS will be supplying you with a gift bag of 5 new high quality picture books for you to keep and share with the children in your provision.

This course is designed to support practitioners in understanding and responding to children’s behaviour in the early years. By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

This module is intended to develop delegate’s understanding of how autism can impact on toileting. The module also aims to equip delegates with strategies to enable and support autistic children to develop their toileting in the setting and at home, through effective communication with parents and carers.

  • Understand how the three areas of difference in autism may impact on toileting

Transitions in the early years for children with Autism – Autism Education Trust Training

This session is perfect for practitioners working in Early Years settings (preschool and reception) looking to boost their understanding of autism and learn practical tips to support autistic individuals effectively.

  • To develop practitioners understanding of the differences between macro and micro transitions
