Thanks to funding from the Jersey Electricity, 100 Projects that Matter, our dedicated team of support workers and early years practitioners have received training in Makaton Signing. This initiative ensures that children in Jersey’s nurseries have every opportunity to communicate, express themselves and feel understood.

At the Jersey Child Care Trust, we work with over 80 children across Jersey’s nurseries, supported by more than 20 passionate team members. Our mission is to make every child’s journey positive and inclusive. Makaton Signing is a powerful communication tool that combines speech with signs and symbols, helping children and adults communicate clearly and confidently.
This training gives our team the skills and resources to provide the very best care and support. It means that children with big feelings or communication challenges can share what is on their minds, and out practitioners can respond with understanding. This then builds stronger, deeper relationships during those crucial early years.
