Les Quennevais student, Cassie Ferreira joined JCCT for two week’s Trident work experience.
Discovering what it would be like working with us Cassie said “I chose the JCCT because in the job description it had said that the student needed knowledge in IT and I really enjoy IT at school, but in these two weeks I have visited two nurseries, one of which was with the charity’s Patron, Dr Karen Kyd! As Patron, Dr Kyd’s visit was to see Support Worker Iona in action supporting Holly in her nursery. I have also visited the library to help with the termly drop in for families that are supported by the charity and enjoyed my time in the office with the staff.
When I first heard about my placement, I was expecting to be in an office all day doing little tasks and not seeing any of the children, but my experience has been quite the opposite. I have enjoyed every minute here, I feel like I instantly click with the children and that I am naturally good with them. Working with the JCCT has completely opened my eyes and changed what I would perhaps like to do in the future. I was planning on doing something in the IT industry because I like it so much but now I think I might want to do something involving childcare. I really love what the JCCT do for children who have special needs and some that need some extra support in their nursery”.
Cassie was so professional and an absolute delight to host. She really seemed to love her experience with the children and they certainly seemed to enjoy her too!
