The Jersey Child Care Trust is pleased to announce the removal of the application fee for our Nanny Accreditation service, effective from 1st July 2025. This important move will make it easier for nannies to become accredited, helping to raise standards of care and enhance child safeguarding across the Island.
The Nanny Accreditation service, operated by the Jersey Child Care Trust, is designed to ensure that nannies working in Jersey meet high standards of safety, care, and professionalism. Through a straightforward and supportive process, the Trust verifies key requirements such as qualifications, DBS checks, and first aid certification – giving families peace of mind and helping to safeguard children.
Fiona Vacher, Executive Director of the Jersey Child Care Trust, said: “We know that nannying can be a wonderfully rewarding role, but it can also be isolating. Our goal is a create a community of accredited nannies who support one another and have access to training and development like others working in the early years sector. By removing the fee, we are breaking down barriers and encouraging more nannies to come forward and become accredited. This not only strengthens child safeguarding across the Island but also supports local families in making informed and confident childcare choices.”
Accredited nannies benefit from a range of incentives, including access to training and professional development opportunities, inclusion into a growing network of professional nannies and access to a local discount card to help with everyday expenses.
This initiative supports and reflects the core mission of the Trust, which is to improve outcomes for all children in Jersey. By focusing on the earliest years, the Jersey Child Care Trust, creates better opportunities, reduces inequalities to help ensure every child has the best possible start in life.
