Special Needs Inclusion Programme
Our specialist support means children with disabilities can go to nursery in Jersey.
We believe ALL children have the right to high quality mainstream childcare in Jersey.
We make this possible by providing extra help and support to mainstream private nurseries and pre-schools across Jersey through our Special Needs Inclusion Programme.
This extra help is provided through the placement of specialist support workers who work as part of the nursery team to ensure children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities have the best possible opportunities to thrive and achieve.
How to access the programme
Support is available to children from birth to school age, who have an additional need and are accessing a private nursery or preschool setting. The child must be accessing two professional agencies to qualify for support e.g. Speech and Language Therapy, Early Years Inclusion Team, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy.
A parent, professional or childcare practitioner can refer a child using a Referral Form from the Trust. All referrals must have the parent’s consent.
