During the first week of June we joined organisations across the Island to say thank you to the volunteers who give their time to support the Trust and the Island’s community.
Volunteers are central to the work of the Jersey Child Care Trust and our Executive Director, Fiona Vacher, expressed her gratitude for the inspiring efforts of individual and corporate volunteers who offer their support.
‘We would not be able to achieve everything we do without the dedication of the many volunteers who work with the Trust. They bring wealth of knowledge and skills to our charity, which help it to run smoothly and to grow in size and quality so that we can meet the needs of more children.
‘Our office at Pip’s Place in Union Street was set with the help of volunteers, who installed our information technology, telephony and security systems. Our accounts are prepared by volunteers and our governors give their time and knowledge for free.
‘Our photographer, Dasa Wharton, captures the work we do on film and makes inspirational videos to promote our charity.
‘Also, we have a parent of a child we supported, Anna Goodyear, who helps with our communications, allowing us to share our news with others and think strategically about our publicity.’
Anna said: ‘The Jersey Child Care Trust provided support to our daughter, which made it possible for her to go to nursery alongside her peers. To be able to give something back is very rewarding.
‘By helping the Trust to promote the crucial work they do on education, health and child poverty, I hope that every child will be able to achieve their best start.’
There are many more children who needed the support of the Trust, and plenty of opportunities for volunteers to get involved.
Fiona said, ‘We hold events every year and volunteers bake cakes, organise scavenger hunts, take part in pirate and princess days, and even collect stamps to raise funds.
If any individuals or organisations would like to get involved, more information can be found on our get involved page.
