Childcare Information

Day Nurseries are for children from birth to school age. Generally their hours are full days, e.g. 7.30 am – 6 pm and open all year round.
Pre-Schools are for children from 2 years to school entry age. Hours generally reflect the school day or mornings only.
Most primary schools have a Nursery Class for children from 3 years. They follow school opening times.
Nannies
Nannies are employed by families. They work from the family’s home but not their own home.
For Nannies
Childminders are self employed, paid by the hour, per child and work from their own homes.
These informal groups are for children and parents to attend together, usually at a community centre, church or parish hall.
Providing care for children between 3 and 12 years, outside of school hours. E.g. breakfast or after school clubs.
Providing care for children between 3 and 12 years during school holidays.
Offering a single activity to children from 3 – 12 years. This could be an art, drama, nature or sports based club for example.
